Founders
Paul van Eikeren, President & CEO, Co-Founder
Blue Reference was co-founded in 2005 by Paul van Eikeren, who has over 35 years experience in pharmaceutical and fine-chemical R&D and manufacturing. As Senior Vice President of Product Strategy at Symyx IntelliChem, he directed the strategy for integrating and positioning software product lines from IntelliChem and Synthematix with those from Symyx Technologies.
Prior to joining Symyx, Paul van Eikeren was co-founder and served as President and CEO of IntelliChem, a high-technology company focused on the development, marketing and sales of intelligent electronic laboratory notebooks for scientists and engineers in drug discovery and development. In 2004 IntelliChem was acquired by Symyx Technologies and the IntelliChem software suite of applications was folded into Symyx Software.
Before founding IntelliChem, Paul van Eikeren served as Vice President of R&D at Argonaut Technologies, Sepracor, and SepraChem. He also held a position as Director of Bioprocess at Bend Research Inc. Paul van Eikeren was Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Harvey Mudd College of Science and Engineering for 14 years prior to entering the the commercial arena. He holds a Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a AB from Columbia University.
Josh van Eikeren, Vice President & CTO, Co-Founder
Blue Reference was co-founded by Josh van Eikeren, who has over 10 years of experience in the architecture, design, construction and implementation of enterprise software for use in the pharmaceutical industry. As IntelliChem’s VP of Development and CTO, he lead the team responsible for the architecture design of a highly-reliable and secure electronic laboratory notebook system for 24/7 use by thousands of globally distributed R&D scientists and engineers. The electronic laboratory notebook is currently deployed in over half of the largest global pharmaceutical companies.
